1. About Datagene
Datagene provides data engineering, analytics, governance and software services. Our services may allow business customers to connect data sources, advertising platforms, analytics services and social-media accounts.
For questions about this policy or how we process information, contact contact@datagene.expert.
2. Information we may collect
Depending on the services used, we may process:
- names, business contact details and account information;
- company and organisation information;
- support messages, enquiries and communications;
- technical information such as browser type, device information, IP address, access logs and security events;
- information uploaded or provided by a customer through the Datagene platform;
- information authorised by a customer through connected services such as Google, Meta, Facebook, Instagram, advertising, analytics, CRM or data-warehouse platforms;
- generated reports, analytics outputs, marketing content and related service records.
3. Connected-account information
Datagene only requests access to third-party accounts when an authorised user deliberately starts and completes the connection process.
The information received depends on the platform, permissions approved by the user and features being used. It may include account identifiers, page or profile information, campaign information, performance metrics, advertising data, analytics data and content-management permissions.
We do not claim ownership of customer source data. Customers retain ownership and grant Datagene permission to process the data only as needed to provide the requested services.
4. How we use information
We may use information to:
- create, operate and secure customer accounts;
- provide integrations requested by authorised users;
- import, organise, analyse and report on customer data;
- generate business insights, marketing recommendations and draft content;
- publish or schedule content where the customer has enabled and approved that functionality;
- provide customer support and respond to enquiries;
- detect abuse, fraud, security threats and technical failures;
- comply with legal and regulatory requirements;
- improve the reliability and usability of our services.
5. Legal bases
Where UK data-protection law applies, we process personal information under one or more appropriate legal bases, including:
- performance of a contract;
- steps requested before entering into a contract;
- compliance with legal obligations;
- legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving our business services;
- consent where consent is required.
6. Service providers and subprocessors
Datagene may use carefully selected service providers for hosting, cloud infrastructure, email delivery, analytics, security, artificial-intelligence processing and customer support.
Providers are permitted to process information only for the agreed service and are expected to protect it appropriately.
7. Artificial intelligence
Some Datagene features may use artificial-intelligence services to assist with analysis, summaries, recommendations or draft marketing content.
Customers should review generated material before relying on it or publishing it. Datagene will disclose relevant AI functionality within the service and will limit information shared with providers to what is reasonably necessary for the requested feature.
8. Data retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably required to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, meet contractual commitments and comply with legal obligations.
Retention periods may vary according to the type of information, customer instructions and applicable legal requirements.
9. Security
We use organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss and misuse.
No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Customers are responsible for protecting their own login credentials and controlling access granted to their users.
10. International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, Datagene uses appropriate contractual, legal and organisational safeguards for international transfers.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, individuals may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability of their personal information.
Requests can be submitted to contact@datagene.expert. We may need to verify identity and authority before completing a request.
12. Deletion and disconnection
Instructions for requesting deletion are available on our Data Deletion page.
Instructions for removing a connected service are available on our Account Disconnection page.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The current version and revision date will always be published on this page.
